Family Counselling in Port Macquarie

A calm, supportive space to help you make sense of what’s happening and move forward with more clarity.

Gottman Institute–informed counselling to support families and relationships of all kinds, helping you navigate challenges and reconnect with each other.

A Safe Space for Family Relationships

Family relationships can be deeply meaningful, but they can also be complex, especially during times of stress, change or misunderstanding. Family counselling offers a supportive space where each person has the opportunity to feel heard, respected and understood.

Sessions can help families improve communication, work through conflict, and rebuild connection. This may include parents and children, adult siblings, mother–daughter or father–son relationships, blended families, or extended family members seeking to navigate ongoing challenges together.

Whether you are facing long-standing tension, recent conflict, life transitions, grief, or simply wanting to strengthen your relationships, counselling can support you in creating healthier and more connected ways of relating to one another.

What Family Counselling Can Help With

Family counselling can support a wide range of relationship challenges and life experiences. Each family is unique, and sessions are tailored to the specific dynamics, needs and goals of the people involved.

Communication Difficulties

When conversations become tense, avoidant or misunderstood, it can create distance between family members. Counselling helps improve communication so that each person can express themselves more clearly and feel heard.

Conflict Between Family Members

Ongoing conflict between parents and children, siblings, or extended family members such as mother–daughter or father–son relationships can be explored in a safe and structured environment. The focus is on understanding patterns and finding healthier ways forward.

Life Transitions and Change

Families often seek support during major life changes such as separation, blended family adjustments, adolescence, moving homes, illness, or loss. Counselling can help families navigate these transitions with greater understanding and stability.

Strengthening Family Connection

Even when there is no major conflict, counselling can support families who want to deepen connection, rebuild trust, or strengthen emotional bonds between family members, including sisters, brothers, parents and adult children.

Blended Families and Complex Dynamics

Blended families can face unique challenges as relationships and roles evolve. Counselling provides space to explore these dynamics and support more harmonious and respectful relationships within the family system.

Reaching out for help is how courage shows up in real life.

What Working Together Looks Like

Family counselling is a supportive and collaborative process, shaped around the unique needs of your family. Sessions provide a space where each person can feel heard, while we gently explore patterns, improve communication, and strengthen understanding between family members.

1. Reach Out

You can contact me by phone or email to arrange an initial appointment. We’ll briefly talk about what’s happening in your family and who may be attending sessions, whether that is parents and children, siblings, or extended family members such as mother–daughter or father–son relationships.

2. First Session

In the first session, we focus on understanding your family dynamics and the concerns that have brought you to counselling. Each person is given space to share their perspective in a safe and respectful environment. Together, we begin to identify patterns in communication and relationship challenges, as well as strengths within the family system.

3. Ongoing Sessions

Ongoing sessions are guided by your family’s goals. This may include improving communication, working through conflict, navigating life transitions, or rebuilding trust and connection. I integrate practical tools and insights to support healthier interactions both in and outside of sessions.

Who I Work With

I work with families and individuals seeking to improve communication, understanding and connection within their relationships, including parents, children, siblings, blended families and extended family members such as mother–daughter and father–son relationships.
